Cumbria Way

The Cumbria Way in Great Langdale

The Cumbria Way in Great Langdale

The Cumbria Way is a 119 km (74 mile) trail through the heart of the English Lake District from the market town of Ulverston in south Cumbria to the historic city of Carlisle, close to the Scottish Border

The character of The Cumbria Way varies from rural charm to the dramatic as it passes through classic Lakeland scenery, and when the National Park is left behind at Caldbeck the clear, fast flowing River Caldew is followed right into the very heart of the ancient border city

In spite of the many competing attractions for walkers in the Lake District, The Cumbria Way is deservedly popular. The route is readily accessible by road or public transport and short enough to be completed conveniently within a week by a fit walker, although a more leisurely pace is recommended to fully appreciate all that this interesting route has to offer
